Dear Christopher,
ODSA1

Through our Government Partners, ODSA has developed a winning opportunity for members of the disc sports scene in Ontario to come together for the first time to share ideas, to learn about the principles and requirements of government funded sports organizations and to help strengthen and model our sports for the future. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND PLAN TO ATTEND. The dates are SEPTEMBER 26th to the 28th It's a NO cost event. We provide accommodation, food and travel expenses. There has NEVER been a better opportunity to get involved and to help shape the future of disc sports.

Leadership
Our sports and member clubs are on the move across the Province! To ensure we are ready to take full advantage of the growing momentum, NOW is the time for every club to invest in building a solid foundation for growth. ODSA recognizes that while representatives of member clubs often want to attend conferences, time and financial constraints prevent them from participating. By PAYING FOR EVERYTHING we remove a big part of the barrier. Member input is critical and we are investing money where it counts.... by providing, you, our members, a great opportunity to come together under one roof to learn about running clubs properly and professionally. We will also gain a better understanding about what's available to all of us as a recognized sport through base funding and government sponsored grants for the future. Featured presentations will highlight elements of LTAD and NCCP so that we all walk away with a clear picture of what is required to get coaches trained and certified. Starting on Saturday September 27th, the morning program will help us understand the landscape in which our sports are operating. We will move into the afternoon with an overview of the ODSA, what's been done and where we are going. It is an exciting, all encompassing program with presentations from the PDGA, CUPA, the Centre for Sport & Law, the Ministry of Health Promotion, Coaches Associations and sport consultants; each helping to give us the lay of the land and solid knowledge base to work from. On Saturday evening we will hold an Awards Dinner and ODSA's AGM, providing EVERY club with a great opportunity to celebrate their success by recognizing those individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the sports and to their clubs and leagues.

On Sunday, our focus will shift to review various components of a resource binder that we are developing for distribution to school boards, municipalities, provincial parks, conservation areas and to residential and day camps. This binder will include step-by-step guides on creating teams, leagues and courses. Up-to-date rules, teaching curriculums and resource materials will be included for all disc sports. A special section will highlight individual leagues, courses and contacts for each member organization throughout the province.

WE WANT
We have a total of 75 fully-funded spots available to attend this event. There has NEVER been a better time to get involved in helping to grow the sport that you love! Be a part of this historical event by signing up today. IT IS CRITICAL TO HAVE 1-2 REPRESENTATIVES FROM EACH CLUB. Fully funded conference registrations will be assigned on a first-come basis. To assist in controlling expenses and reducing our carbon footprint, we are helping to arrange car pools from across the Province. We will pay for transportation, 2 nights accommodation and provide 7 meals over the course of the conference.

DON'T DELAY.....SIGN UP TODAY! Rooming lists to the host hotel, Holiday Inn Toronto Airport - East are due by September 12th. Please follow the link to SIGN-UP today!

As mentioned above, on Saturday September 27th the ODSA will hold it's Annual General Meeting. A key portion of this event is to seek to elect new members for Executive and Board positions. The search is on to identify candidates for these positions! Once again, this is where YOU come in! The Board is made up of 6 Independent Directors. The Executive consists of a President, Vice- President, Secretary and Treasurer. Most Board meetings take place on conference calls with a frequency of six per year. Executive meetings are usually face-to-face meetings and also average six per year.

The AGM provides an annual opportunity to nominate and elect new Board Members who demonstrate an enthusiasm to become involved in the running of our sports on a Provincial level. ODSA's future very much depends on broadening its' ability to fully represent both Ultimate and Disc Golf across the Province. Leadership positions within ODSA provide a unique opportunity to not only help steer the development of our sports into the future, but provide individuals with a real opportunity for personal growth and involvement. So don't miss the chance to stand for nomination today!

This will be an exciting weekend and a great opportunity to network with like minded players in a relaxed environment. TOGETHER WE CAN PLAN THE FUTURE. Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Christopher Lowcock
