Dear Members,
ODSA1
As we look back on 2007 and Ontario's place within the disc scene, we have many accomplishments to be proud of. First and foremost are the two high level events that were hosted in Toronto in 2007: The Canadian Ultimate Players Associations' Canadian Ultimate Championships which attracted a record number of teams and the 2007 Canadian Open Disc Golf Championships which drew some of the worlds greatest disc golfers as participants. The second major accomplishment has been the support and growth of ODSA in year two, having now achieved a membership of 10,751. Our aim is to continue to expand our member base over the course of the next few years to help elevate disc sports to their rightful place within the provincial sports scene.

King becomes Queen for a 2nd time
PDGA Worlds With this event moving to a new location next year, mixed emotions of joy and sadness fell on the 60 women who competed in this year's United States Women's Disc Golf Championships in Peoria, Illinois. The last few days in September have been deemed "the women's weekend of disc golf," as this PDGA Major event has taken place for the past six years. Mom and Old Man Wallis have fearlessly forged forward with help from the Peoria Frisbee Club in making this a truly unique event and this year was no different.

Do You Have Guts!
Thinking about playing in the WFDF World Ultimate & Guts Championships hosted in Vancouver next summer? Here's your chance to step up to the plate......literally!  For those who know the game, playing Guts is like having a pitcher whip a disc at you from a starting point that is 3/4's of the distance from where a ball is typically pitched to a batter. The difference is that you stand there and encourage the thrower to throw it at you and you want to catch it, but you can only do so with one hand! Guts is the oldest Frisbee disc sport, having just celebrated it's 50th year this summer. To learn more about game specifics click the GUTS discGuts Disc below.

Ontario is hoping to field both a mens' and womens' team to enter into next summers event. We are looking for players that aren't shy about standing in front of a disc that weighs 110 grams and can reach speeds of 160 kph (average speed is 100 kph) being hurled at them from 14 meters away.  To build familiarity and skills, while encouraging the potential formation of teams, ODSA will host a number of clinics throughout the province during the upcoming winter and spring. If you are interested and want to be part of these teams and/or you would like to see ODSA visit your area to teach, then contact shootmebutter@ondisc.org

Stay tuned for the next disKRAZE in December packed with more exciting news.

Sincerely,

Christopher Lowcock
