Wow! What a year, and we haven't really started playing yet! ODSA has experienced growth in leaps and bounds. As of May 1st, we have over 10,400 members and more on the way! So far, 20 member clubs have joined our ranks: 4 representing disc golf and 16 ultimate clubs (including 2 within the corporate category & 18 clubs within the non-for profit category). Of these, 17 of the clubs have purchased the Insurance Membership. Currently we are running online registrations for 9 clubs and 1 club has taken advantage of the full registration services, offering online payment options to their members. From a geographic perspective, we have 4 member clubs from the East Region, 4 from the North Region and 12 from the South Region, so we really do have the province covered! Our website has been revamped and is updated daily with news features, new event listings and industry supplier updates. You can visit our home page by clicking our logo above to learn more about who's a member and what events are forth coming. We've accomplished all of this in a very short period, as we were only recognized by the Ministry of Health Promotion as a Provincial Sports Organization last February. We are excited to have been able to deliver so much so soon!

Sport Priority Funding
Last year, the ODSA was successful in applying for a Sport Development Initiative grant and received $30,000 to bring ultimate and disc golf to 56 schools, reaching 4500 grade 7 & 8 students throughout the province during it's fall Outreach Disc Sports Tour. ODSA has applied for a second year of funding through the Sport Priority Funding program and is seeking $50,000 to expand the program into grades 9 & 10. The plan is to run 3 concurrent programs over 10 weeks, again in the fall, reaching 200 schools and potentially 14000 students from grades 7 to 10. We are currently seeking sponsors to help offset some of the costs. If you employed with a firm or know of companies looking for exposure to this demographic, please follow this link and pass along those details to us.

Were Working On It!
ODSA is in it's infancy and is evolving daily. We are working diligently to support member clubs and leagues in any way we can. Over the course of the next 12 months, we will be devising plans, in consultation with disc sports councils, to create a yearly series of regional events leading towards Provincial Championships. We also will be further defining the structure of ODSA moving forward, along with core deliverables and responsibilities. We invite you to help in this capacity with suggestions or requests that you believe would be essential to mould how we grow the sport and the organization. As your provincial body, we are working on outreach and teaching packages for elementary and secondary school systems, along with progressing an approach to formalize coaching certification through the Coaches Association of Canada (CAC) and the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). We have hired an industry consultant to help identify and assist to achieve these goals and to formalize an application for operational funding, in order to competently deliver these objectives. How can you get involved Christopher? Simply click on the NEWS picture above to visualize our organizational structure. Then follow this link to use the interactive submission form to share your contact info and ideas/needs. Together, we will build a strong future to more fully address the needs and opportunities for our games!
As outlined above, ODSA has experienced rapid growth and needs key people to help mould the future for our sports. We have tremendous funding opportunities to support initiatives to ensure a bright future. What we do need is your help us along the journey. We require board members and individuals from each of the 3 regions to be part of our Disc Golf and Ultimate Sport Councils. We are also seeking Executive Members. We will be sending out balloting for our AGM within the next week and would really like people to step forward and fill these key roles.
