The Ice Bowls Cometh...
Every year, in the dead of winter, the tremendous warmth of disc golf emerges in the form of charitable events, called Ice Bowls. These local disc golf tournaments recognize the profound need for food and shelter within their communities by rallying support for the disadvantaged. Disc golfers donate their time, effort, food, and money to help.
Over 225 Ice Bowls were held throughout the Winter months of 2008, and their success was staggering. Raising over $250,000 in cash and collecting over 25,000 tons of food, the true spirit of disc golf came forth.
And this year will be bigger and better, as more-and-more local clubs get involved. We urge you to support your local Ice Bowl by donating a canned-good or some money. It will go a long way towards improving the lives of those less fortunate.

PDGA Magazine Taking Shape
Your Contributions are Welcome!
The new PDGA Magazine is taking shape, and it will quickly become a valuable resource for our entire disc golf community. By combining great stories and pictures, we hope to tell the tales of, not just the biggest tournaments in our sport, but of the human element involved in disc golf, as well.
So, towards that end, we need your help! Please consider putting your best stories and pictures together, so that we can use them in our new magazine. It doesn't have to be profound, just entertaining and pertaining to disc golf. We know there's lots of awesome stuff that happens on (and off) the disc golf course. We're just asking you to share it with the rest of our disc golf community.
For more information on submitting your article or picture to the new PDGA Magazine, contact editor, Rick Rothstein at rrothstein@pdga.com. | |

Who is It?
...the Jerry West of Disc Golf?
The NBA logo, you know...the one with the guy dribbling the basketball...purportedly contains the silhouette of NBA Hall-of-Famer Jerry West. And if you ever saw West play, you would recognize his form instantly.
Which leads to the question...Who is that putting in the PDGA logo? Does it remind you of anyone specific? We'd like you to share some of your ideas on who you think it might be.
To share your knowledge (or guesses) of "Who is it?" Email PDGA Director of Marketing & Communications, John Duesler at jgduesler@pdga.com. |
